  1. Christmas tree lighting. Most cities have a big night where the light up the big tree. However, most of these events come with large crowds. So, if this isn’t your idea of fun, how about decorating a tree together? Put on some Christmas music, make some hot chocolate and get to decorating.
  2. Go ice-skating. Maybe you’re a pro at skating, maybe not. Either way, do something fun and different. If you can find an outside rink that is even better, its more festive.
  3. Go see a stage play. If seeing a professional stage play isn’t in the budget, check out your local small theater or many high schools or churches put on plays around the hospital and they are generally less expensive.
  4. Bake some cookies. Get in the kitchen together and have some fun baking cookies together.
  5. Holiday movie marathon. Pull out your favorite Christmas movies and have a movie night marathon. Or, simply turn your TV to the Hallmark channel or Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. They play nonstop Christmas movies from November 1st thru January 1st.
  6. Christmas tree farm. Visit a Christmas tree farm and cut down your own tree. Many Christmas tree farms also offer hot chocolate and hayrides. Check it out!
  7. Go antiquing. Take a day trip on the weekend to a small town. Many small towns know how to make their town feel warm and festive. Visit their Main street which will generally be filled with antique stores and neat ‘mom and pop shops’. If you’re feeling adventurous, stay at a bed and breakfast.
  8. Christmas Lights. Looking at Christmas lights are always a fun, festive way to celebrate the Holiday season. You can find a drive through light display, or find a neighborhood.
  9. Christmas Parade. Enjoy a parade together while snuggling up under a blanket and drinking hot cocoa.
  10. Symphony orchestra. Put on your best dress/suit. Have a fancy dinner and go listen to the sounds of Christmas at the symphony. End the night with a horse and carriage ride. Now that is romantic!
